SAFAROTO Combines the best of solo travel and group travel – at a fraction of the cost.

We are a travel community focused on connecting you with great people to travel with whenever and wherever you want to go. Our mission is to make travel social, simple & fun for you. Our travel community is built on trust, authenticity, and solidarity. We welcome travelers from all walks of life, but we carefully vet every member to ensure safety, respect, and camaraderie.

WE JOIN EACH OTHER TO TRAVEL IN CITIES AROUND THE WORLD

Any community member can host a Group Trip in their hometown or travel destination, inviting others to join. Hosts organize at least five group activities during the trip.

Community Group Trips are flexible—stay as long as you like and join group activities or meals at your preference. Members arrange their own accommodations and  transport and they are responsible for their own expenses.

BUCKET LIST GROUP TRIPS

WE ORGANIZE GROUP TRIPS TO OUR DREAM DESTINATIONS

Community members vote on destinations, share travel preferences and provide dates and budgets constraints. Based on this input, the SAFAROTO team organizes personalized trips, optimizing costs by splitting expenses.

At least 85% of the cost of the trip goes directly toward accommodations, transport, activities, and the actual trip experience. You get to go on a personalized trip to your dream destination with amazing people at a fraction of the cost charged by travel agencies.

There are many reasons our members love traveling together via SAFAROTO:

  • Make new lifelong friends: Our community is made up of a long list of amazing travel buddies from all over the world and potential new friends of a lifetime. Never feel lonely again when traveling.
  • Save Money: It is much cheaper to travel with us than with a travel agency that is incentivized to maximize their commission. Joining Community Get-Togethers are free of charge for members. As for Bucket List Trips,  we always make sure that 85% of the cost goes towards the actual trip expenses and we transparently share with you the full breakdown of cost.
  • Save Time: Join a Bucket List Trip and let us do the planning for you so you don’t have to spend countless hours doing it yourself. You also save time by benefiting from the experience of traveling with an experienced travel host who is a local or who knows the destination well when joining a Community Get Together so you do not miss out on anything.
  • Travel with Full Flexibility: Join a community Get-Together for as many days as you would like and opt in or opt out of any group activity or group meal – you never have to feel stuck on a prescribed and rigid itinerary or schedule.
  • Travel Based on your Preferences: Customize the trip to what you want. When joining a community Get-Together, you get to set your travel rhythm, pick your preferred accommodations and transport option based on your needs and budget. When joining a Bucket-List trip, you get to provide input on your desired experience so the trip is personalized for the desires of the members of the trip.

  2. We Seek Discovery: We do not travel to sit around in all inclusive resorts or to just snap a selfie in front of a famous landmark. We want to get to know the local people, learn about their customs and tradition, their way of life and learn as much as we can about each destination we go to.
  3. We Love Adventure: We enjoy new experiences, learning new skills, going beyond our comfort zone and we encourage and support each other along the way.
  4. We Value a Healthy Lifestyle: We like to be active and seek healthy food options and while we enjoy the occasional fun night out, we are more likely to opt for a good night of sleep than late night drinking.
  5. We Value Diversity: Our community is diverse and made up of members from dozens of different countries, belonging to different age groups and from all walks of life – all sharing a common passion for travel and a desire to explore the world.
  6. We Expect Good Behavior: We have no tolerance for unethical or disrespectful behavior toward others or any type of harassment. We expect our members to treat others the way they would like to be treated and showcase a certain level of maturity and emotional intelligence when traveling with us.

Community Group Trips provide the flexibility and the freedom of solo travel while having a wonderful community to hang out with, share meals with and do activities together. They are often led by a local or someone who knows that destination well so you get to make the most of your trip by having an expert with you along the way.

Group Trips are typically 1-4 weeks long and you may opt in to join for as many days as you would like. Once you sign up for one, you will be added to the group chat for the trip to be able to communicate directly with the host and other members who are joining. You are responsible for booking your flight, transportation and accommodations. it is not uncommon for members to post to the group when wanting to find someone to share accommodations with.

Before and during the Community Group Trip, the host may send out a message with details about planned group activities and group meals so members can RSVP and plan their schedule accordingly. Any member may also propose an activity during the get together via the group chat for others to join.

During the Community Group Trip, each person is responsible for paying their own expenses and covering their share of the cost for any group expenses that are paid by a member for an activity or a meal.

We have hosted a variety of Bucket List Trips all over the world including:

  • Going to Rio de Janeiro for the carnival
  • Climbing Kilimanjaro
  • Hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu
  • Meeting in Japan for the cherry blossom
  • Traveling with a van and hiking in New Zealand
  • Doing a motorcycle trip in the north of India across the Himalayas
  • Going on a safari in Kenya
  • Trekking to Everest base camp in Nepal

Ultimately, as a member you get to vote on where we should go as a community each quarter.

Each member of the community is responsible for paying their annual membership fee of $99/year giving them the opportunity to sign up for as many community Get-Togethers and Bucket-List Trips as they would like.

We seek members with good moral values and personal character and who demonstrate them during the interview process and when traveling with our community with their actions and how they treat others.

SAFAROTO was started by Othmane Rahmouni (or OTO as his friends like to call him). As soon as he started traveling full-time in November 2017, he found himself organizing trips for his friends to join him in different corners of the world along with other travelers and locals he met across different countries.

Since then, we have hosted 68+ Get-Togethers & Bucket-List Trips in 35 different countries with members representing 37 nationalities as of January 1st 2025.
